Characteristic elements of core competence of expert patients in peritoneal dialysis:a qualitative research
Objective To explore the characteristic elements of core competence of expert patient(EP)in peritoneal dialysis,so as to provide reference for cultivating EP in peritoneal dialysis.Methods From April to July 2023,a purposive sampling method was used to select 20 medical staff in nephrology department of three tertiary grade-A comprehensive hospitals in Shenzhen for semi-structured in-depth interviews.The data was analyzed using the Colaizzi 7-step analysis method.Results Seven themes were extracted,including self-management ability,learning and understanding ability,communication and expression ability,educational guidance ability,emergency situation handling and organizational coordination ability,knowledge acquisition and text editing ability,and personal quality.Conclusion multiple core competencies are required for EP in peritoneal dialysis,which can be enhanced through the cultivation of core competencies to meet the development needs of the role of EP in peritoneal dialysis.
