Translation of Cultural Competence Scale for Clinical Nurses and its reliability and validity
Objective To introduce and translate the Cultural Competence Scale for Clinical Nurses(CCSN)and test its reliability and validity. Methods Following the Brislin translation model, the Chinese version of CCSN was formed.Cross-cultural adaption of the translated scale was carried out through expert review and pilot study.A total of 432 clinical nurses from hospitals in Beijing,Chengde and Taiyuan were selected by convenience sampling from November 2022 to February 2023 to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the scale. Results The Chinese version of CCSN contained 4 dimensions and 33 items, and a total of 4 common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis. The cumulative contribution rate was 67.254%.The item-level(CVI)ranged from 0.818 to 1.000,and the scale-level content validity index(S-CVI)was 0.931.The Cronbach's α coefficient for the overall scale was 0.976.The test-retest reliability was 0.932.Conclusion The Chinese version of CCSN has good reliability and validity. It is suitable for evaluating cross-cultural nursing ability of clinical nurses, and provides reference for formulating targeted cross-cultural nursing education.
