The concept of "lightscape", or landscape which is mainly caused by lighting or the changing of light and shade is proposed. The necessity of establishing the discipline of lightscape is also illustrated. Some typical lightscape examples in the world from ancient time up to now are introduced. The main points and possible research topics about this discipline are described.
