The Spatial Characteristics of Traditional Urban"Scenic Domain"in the Zhejiang-Fujian-Jiangxi Region
In traditional Chinese urban design, the interaction between the city and the landscape is viewed as the core of establishing the overall order of human settlements. In current theoretical research and practices, there is an urgent need to focus on the organization and correlation of urban landscapes and key sites,as well as to bridge the research gap between urban and landscape history. This study aims to explore and define the planning thought behind the concept"scenic domain"within the concept of orientation. The logic of landscape construction and the combined elements in urban scenic domains are investigated through ancient local chronicles, case analysis, and image organization.Furthermore, the study reveals the relationship between the interactive clusters of the"city-scene"and the combination of site areas,as well as the correlation and agglomeration rules of natural and cultural scenic domains. The findings aim to contribute fresh perspectives and theoretical foundations for the design and preservation of scenic heritage in key urban areas.By accurately interpreting the concept of orientation, the concept of"scenic domain"is determined. In particular, the connotation features and planning method of the"scenic domain"are analyzed thoroughly.Through interpretation of local chronicles and semantic analysis, the study identifies the significant role of orientation culture in the layout of urban scenic areas.Secondly, the Zhejiang-Fujian-Jiangxi region, which has rich mountain and water resources, was chosen as a traditional typical city in the case study. The construction elements of scenic domains along different directions were investigated through statistical analysis and research on ancient city images. The study found that ancient cities often combined landscape elements and orientation when planning layouts, forming representative spatial layouts and structural features of the scenic domain. Finally, the study summarizes the spatial layout and structural characteristics of traditional urban scenic domains in the Zhejiang-Fujian-Jiangxi region, providing new perspectives and theoretical foundations for the design and associative protection of iconic historical district elements in cities. These research findings are significantly enlightening for modern urban planning and design,as they are conducive to understanding and protecting the historical and cultural heritage of cities. The study offers new perspectives and theoretical foundations for the design and associative protection of iconic historical elements in city districts, ranging from macro-regional protection strategies to the meso protection of specific site clusters and the micro enhancement of landscape architecture. The study also offers diversified thoughts and exploration pathways for regional landscape construction and protection of historical and cultural environments.
