An Analysis of the Mechanism of the Changes in the Family Structure of Small Farmers on Joining the Modern Agricultural System
Under the background of"large country and small farmers",realizing the modernization transformation of small farmers is an important component of Chinese style agricultural modernization, reflecting Chinese characteristics. This article uses the sampling data of farmers from the third national agricultural census to analyze the influencing factors and implementation mechanisms of connecting small farmers with modern agriculture from the perspective of changes in the family structure of small farmers.Empirical analysis shows that with the trend of aging, miniaturization, and part-time employment in rural households, the willingness of small farmers to connect with modern agriculture will be significantly reduced;Further mechanism analysis indicates that small farmer families with male offspring are significantly willing to join the modern agricultural system even in the face of changes in family structure. This study indicates that in the new development stage, the production function of farmland gradually weakens and the property function becomes more prominent for small farmers.Based on this, this article suggests continuously deepening policies such as"long-term stability"and"separation of three rights"that are conducive to ensuring the property income of farmers, and providing more comprehensive institutional supply for small farmers to connect with modern agriculture.
