Leisure Encroachment and Risk Inducement:A Study on the Relationship Between Schooling Pressure and Adolescent Physical Health:An Empirical Analysis Based on CEPS Data
The schooling pressure and physical health of adolescents are increasingly becoming the focus of societal concern.Based on the analysis of data from the China Education Panel Survey(2014-2015),this paper finds that there is a direct causal relationship between schooling pressure and the physical health of adolescents.Schooling pressure can affect adolescents'health by reducing sleep time, decreasing social interaction frequency, and inducing risky behaviors. At the same time, influenced by factors such as social structure differentiation and physiological differences, sleep time and social interaction have a more pronounced mediating effect among students from elite families, risky behaviors have a more pronounced mediating effect among non-elite students, social interaction and risky behaviors both bring about a more pronounced mediating effect on boys, and sleep time has a more pronounced mediating effect among girls.Future efforts in adolescent health should not only strive to alleviate academic pressure but also pay attention to the inherent differences related to family background and gender in order to ensure the adolescents healthy growing up.
