How Does the Digitization in the Rural Areas Affect the Rural Migrant Workers'Transfer and Employment?A Test of Intermediary Effect and Threshold Effect
The digitization in rural areas is an important part of digital countryside construction and a key measure to promote agricultural and rural modernization.Based on provincial panel data,this paper analyzes the mechanism of rural digitization affecting migrant workers'migration and employment.The results show that the digitization level in rural areas is relatively low and decreasing gradually from the east,the central,the northeast to the west.The benchmark regression shows that rural digitization increase the transfer employment of the rural labor.The heterogeneity analysis shows that the promotion effect of rural digitization on rural labor transfer and employment has spatial heterogeneity,and the effect is significant in the eastern and central regions as well as the regions with input of main grain for foods.The mediation effect test shows that rural digitization can promote rural labor transfer and employment through the promotion of technological innovation and agricultural labor productivity.The threshold effect test shows that rural digitization has nonlinear threshold effect on the rural labor transfer and employment with a diminishing marginal effect.The spillover effect test shows that rural digitization has a spatial spillover effect on rural labor transfer and employment.
