The Effect of Family's Children Structure on the Parents'Behavior of Multiple Job-holding
This paper focuses on the effects of childbearing on parents'multiple job-holding.There are plenty researches demonstrating the impacts of child-bearing on labor participation, but few light are shed on the effect of child-bearing on the multiple job-holding so far.Based on the data from China Labor-force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)2018,the paper explores the impacts of family's children structure on parents'multiple job-holding behaviors from perspective of the children's number and gender. The results show that the number of children is significantly correlated with parents'multiple job-holding,and the parents with two children is highly like to have multiple jobs than those having only once child, however such effect get to weaken for the family with 3 or more children. The residents with rural household registration and the men is more likely to have multiple jobs with the increasing children in the family, while the women has no significant correlation.Furthermore, the people with son or sons tend to have multiple jobs, especially for the rural families, the reasons may related to the economic pressure for wealth accumulation in the family with sons.It can be a new perspective to estimate the relation between the family structure and labor participation of labor market.
