A Study on the Application of Self-Assessment and Peer-Assessment in English Translation Teaching in Vocational College from the Perspective of Constructivism
With a view to improving the teaching effectiveness and translating skills of vocational English majors,the study applied Self-assessment and Peer-assessment to the English translation teaching in vocational college from the perspective of the Constructivism learning theory.The study lasted for 36 weeks(72 periods),and took 61 students majoring in Business English as subjects of the study with a purpose to answer 2 questions:Firstly,what were the students'attitudes towards Self-assessment and Peer-assessment in English translation teaching?Secondly,what were the effects of Self-assessment and Peer-assessment on students'translating?Pre-test,post-test,questionnaire,classroom observation and interviews were used as the experimental tools in the study.The study showed that most students welcomed and accepted the application of the combination of Self-assessment and Peer-assessment,and believed that it could stimulate their enthusiasm of translation learning,improve their interest in learning,and enhance their cooperation with their peers.At the same time,the comparative analysis of the post-test and pre-test data showed that Self-assessment and Peer-assessment could effectively improve students'translation skills,such as vocabulary spelling,business term accumulation,grammar accuracy,rationality of text structure and correctness of content.
