Zhang Shi,as one of the main representatives of the Hunan School,is known as one of the"Three Sages of Southeast China"along with Zhu Xi and Lv Zuqian.Zhang Shi not only has outstanding academic knowledge,but also has trained numerous dis-ciples with the aim of"benefiting the people through worldly affairs".The descendants of Zhang Shi spread and promoted the Nanxuan Learning through the methods of"lecturing on literature,""expounding on philosophical ideas,"and"promoting it as the authentic school of Confucianism."This not only made Nanxuan Learning popular in Hunan and Sichuan,but also gained official recognition as the authentic school of Confucianism.Therefore,Zhang Shi's successors made important contributions to the dissemination and promo-tion of Nanxuan Learning.
