Preparation and mechanical properties of a new visible light curing orthodontic adhesive
To improve the long-term stability of orthodontic adhesives, the preparation and mechanical properties of a new visible light cured orthodontic adhesive were studied.Isooctyl methacrylate was used as the base adhesive,di-luent,coupling agent, and other materials. After curing with a light curing machine,in vitro dental samples were pre-pared for testing. The effects of diluent ratio, bracket material, and bonding environment on the shear strength of the adhesive were tested, and the effects of coupling agent dosage, light exposure time, coupling agent and matrix adhe-sive dosage on the adhesive bonding strength and tensile strength were analyzed. The experimental results showed that with a diluent ratio of 1∶1,the adhesive had the highest shear strength when selecting metal brackets, and could also meet the requirements of orthodontic bonding when used in a humid environment. When the light curing time was 40 seconds, the amount of substrate adhesive was 50%,and the amount of coupling agent was 16%,the ad-hesive had the highest adhesive strength and tensile strength.
