Dynamic burning rate testing methods for solid propellants under erosive combustion conditions
In order to measure the dynamic burn rate of solid propellants under erosive combustion conditions,a testing system for erosive burn rate is designed. This testing system is based on a transparent-window engine and includes pressure sensors,high-speed cameras, and a data acquisition system. The transparent-window engine is used to create high-temperature and high-pressure transverse gas flow conditions for the propellant sample to produce erosive combustion, and the high-speed camera is used to capture the process of combustion recession on the sample surface.A certain standardized hydroxy terminated polybutadiene propellant is used as the test subject, and a hot firing test for erosive combustion is carried out.Combined with numerical research, the accuracy of the constructed erosive burn rate testing method and mathematical model is analyzed and verified. The results demonstrate that this erosive combustion testing method has a range of significant advantages, including low cost and high efficiency. It is capable of acquiring multiple data sets in a single test run and is well-suited for the rapid measurement of erosive burn rates across various solid propellants.
