Eco-village Construction:A Study on the Mutual Construction of"Ecological Industrialization"and"Industrial Ecology"——Based on a Case Study of Zhuzhen Town,Nanjing
The establishment of eco-villages is a pivotal aspect of China's pursuit of ecological civilization and the concurrent rural revitalization strategy. The central challenge for the development of eco-villages today and in the future is to accomplish sustainable green development in rural contexts. This study employs a dual conceptual framework of"ecological industrialization"and"industrial ecology"to examine the case of Zhuzhen Town in Nanjing City. The analysis reveals that the interplay between these two concepts can successfully reconcile rural ecological conservation with economic advancement."Ecological industrialization"refers to the conversion of ecological assets into economic value, encompassing the cultivation of ecological resources, the assetization of these resources, the capitalization of ecological assets, and the marketization of ecological products and services.Conversely,"industrial ecology"integrates ecological principles into industrial development, focusing on reducing environmental impact and minimizing resource usage through the adoption of a circular economy, industrial resource sharing, and the utilization of green technologies. The shared values and interconnected functions of"ecological industrialization"and"industrial ecology"require a harmonious relationship and backing from technological and institutional innovation mechanisms. This paper not only articulates the logical connections, strategic actions, and implementation mechanisms of this interaction but also contributes to filling the theoretical void in the literature on eco-village construction.Additional research is needed to explore the diverse ecological development paths and mechanisms applicable to various types of rural areas.
