Transmutation and Remodeling of Village Community of Turning Villages into Communities
The village community represents a complex social framework that encompasses economic, political, and cultural dimensions, reflecting the inherent logic of rural society in these areas.Academic discourse has developed various research frameworks, including the"interest-community,""power-community,"and"value-community"paradigms.Since the advent of China's reform and opening up policy, the process of urbanization and the practice of grassroots social governance, epitomized by the transition from"village to community,"have endowed village communities with new characteristics distinct from their historical predecessors. These are most evident in the shift from differentiated to integrated interest patterns, the delegation of power from the state to civil society, and the diminishing influence of traditional values.Amidst China's urbanization and the modernization of national governance,to facilitate the transition of villages into vibrant communities and to reinvigorate local cultures,it is imperative to leverage the strengths of both urban and rural areas in accordance with the state's urban-rural integration development strategy. This involves crafting a sophisticated mechanism to harmonize interest relations, expanding and fairly distributing the collective economy's wealth, and reconstructing the economic fabric of the village community.Additionally, the project necessitates several other efforts:fostering an integrated"three governance"model, embracing comprehensive people's democracy, reshaping the political structure of the village community, preserving and promoting traditional village culture, animating the village's collective memory, and recrafting the cultural order within the village community.
