Calibration of soil pressure sensors is a fundamental task in geotechnical testing, but a consensus on standard calibration devices and methods has yet to be reached.Based on load-ing platform for consolidation test, two types of calibration devices for soil pressure sensors, namely shim type and equal diameter type, are proposed.Comparative tests are conducted using sandy soil for box-type soil pressure sensors and axial force sensors. The research indi-cates that the linearity of the loading-unloading calibration coefficient of box-type soil pressure sensors is acceptable, but there is a certain hysteresis existing. The calibration coefficients ob-tained from shim type and equal diameter type calibration devices are respectively lower and higher than those from hydraulic factory calibration, indicating a significant influence of the in-ternal dimensions of the calibration device on the calibration results. Both calibration tests and numerical simulation results for axial force sensors show that the overburden pressure on the sensor in the equal diameter type calibration device is equal to the applied load, which meets the basic working conditions of the calibration device. However, the shim type calibration de-vice exhibits uneven vertical stress distribution internally, resulting in lower pressure above the sensor than the applied load. This research provides valuable reference for a deeper understand-ing of soil pressure sensor calibration.
