Awareness of pre-exposure prophylaxis and its influencing factors among people with self-perceived risk of AIDS in Yangzhou
Objective:To understand the awareness of pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)and its influencing factors among people with self-perceived risk of AIDS in Yangzhou.Methods:From January 2022 to June 2022,commu-nity residents were recruited by random sampling in six districts of Yangzhou.Demographic information,income status,smoking and drinking history,AIDS knowledge/behavior and PrEP awareness were collected by question-naires.The multivariate Logistic regression model was applied to analyze the influencing factors of PrEP awareness among people with self-perceived risk of AIDS.Results:A total of 461 questionnaires were used in the final analy-sis.The awareness rate of PrEP in people with self-perceived risk of AIDS in Yangzhou was51.6%.The multivari-ate Logistic regression show that people who knew AIDS knowledge(OR =3.30,P<0.001),had been tested for HIV(OR =2.13,P =0.014)and had physical examination regularly(OR =2.13,P =0.001)were more likely to know about PrEP,while people aged 30 to 44 years old(OR =0.55,P =0.018)and extremely worried about con-tracting HIV(OR =0.37,P<0.001)had lower awareness rate of PrEP.Conclusion:The awareness rate of PrEP among people with self-perceived risk of AIDS in Yangzhou is low.We should strengthen the publicity of PrEP among people aged 30 to 44 years old,lacked of knowledge about AIDS,extremely worried about contracting HIV and lacked of self-health behaviors.
