Joint association of drinking status and physical activity with glycemic control among community patients with type 2 diabetes
Objective:To evaluate the joint association of drinking status and physical activity with glycemic con-trol among community patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:Totally 5 663 type 2 diabetes were selected from 5 districts in Nanjing municipality with multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling.Multivariable Logistic regres-sion model was used to investigate the joint association of drinking status and physical activity with glycemic control among type 2 diabetes. Results:The glycemic control rate was 39.8%in the overall 5 663 patients. After adjust-ment for potential confounders, heavy drinking patients was 0.73 times(95%CI:0.64-0.83,P<0.001)higher than that of non-drinking/moderate drinking patients to glycemic control.Meanwhile, compared to non-drinking/moderate drink patients who had adequate physical activity, heavy drinker who had adequate physical activity(OR = 0.76,95%CI:0.66-0.87,P<0.001),heavy drinker who exposed to physical inactivity(OR =0.58,95%CI:0.41-0.84,P=0.003)were,respectively,less like to control glycemic. Conclusion:Drinking status and physical activity might have an additive effect on the glycemic control among adult aged 18 years or older in Nanjing,China.
