In order to find the favorable mixing pattern of Populus growth,the mixing experiment of 3 middle species of Ulmus pum-ila,Robinia pseudoacacia and Amorpha fruticosa with Populus tomentosa was carried out for 3 years,and the effects of different mixing patterns on the growth of Populus tomentosa were analyzed.The results showed that the tree height,DBH,tree volume and stock volume reached the maximum value under the mixed mode of Populus tomentosa and Amorpha fruticosa,respectively,which were significantly higher than that between Populus tomentosa and Ulmus pumila,and between Populus tomentosa and Robinia pseudoacacia.Therefore,it is suggested to choose Amorpha fruticosa as the mixed species of Populus tomentosa in afforestation.The results of this study can provide useful reference for mixed afforestation of Populus tomentosa.
