The Effect of Different Selenium Sources on the Antioxidant Capacity of Solanum lycopersicum Fruits
Taking Grit Solanum lycopersicum as the research object, the effects of different selenium sources on antioxidant enzyme activity in tomato fruits were studied using greenhouse cultivation and foliar spraying methods. The results showed that the selenium content in Solanum lycopersicum fruits was significantly positively correlated with the activities of peroxidase(POD)and superoxide dismutase(SOD),while the correlation with catalase(CAT)was relatively low.Spraying both selenium sources significantly(P<0.01)increased the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and peroxidase(POD).The activity of the biological selenium spraying group(3 groups)was significantly better than that of the sodium selenite spraying group(2 groups),and there was no significant change in the activity of catalase(CAT).The research results indicated that the use of selenium in selenium rich cultivation can im-prove the antioxidant capacity of Solanum lycopersicum fruits, and the effect of organic selenium is better than that of inorganic sele-nium.Furthermore,it is indicated that from 21 to 28 days after spraying, the Solanum lycopersicum fruits harvested from the biologi-cal selenium group with a spraying concentration of 100 mg/L had the highest antioxidant capacity. At this time, the activities of POD and SOD in the fruits were the best, and there was no significant change in CAT activity.
