Four cultivars of Carica papaya(Risheng,Tainong No.5,Tainong No.6 and Nongyou No.1)introduced from Taiwan were planted in Meizhou,and the comparative tests on botanical characters,agronomic characters,fruit quality and disease resistance were carried out.The results showed that Risheng and Tainong No.5 varieties had the advantages of high yield,stable yield,high quality and disease resistance,and were suitable for spreading planting in Meizhou area.Tainong No.6 has low yield and average fruit quali-ty.Nongyou No.1 is easily infected with diseases and is not suitable for planting in Meizhou.
