The Efficacy of Baduanjin Exercise on Patients with Major Depressive Disorder
Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of Baduanjin exercise for patients with major depressive disorder.Methods:a total number of 50 patients who met the DSM-V criteria from October 2020 to October 2021 were recruited.The Baduanjin group(n=25)received 12 weeks Baduanjin exercise plus the conventional treatments whereas the control group(n=25)only had the con-ventional interventions.Outcome measures were HRSD17,Q-LES-Q-SF,MSPSS,and cortisol concentration.Results:all variables showed significant differences after 12 weeks of Baduanjin intervention compared with baseline(P<0.05),but there was no significant be-tween-group difference was found(P>0.05).Conclusions:regular practicing Baduanjin can significantly improve depressive syndromes,self-satisfaction,social perception,and cortisol concentration in patients with major depressive disorder.More clinical studies are needed to support these findings.
