The Effects of Campus Sport Participation on University Students'Sense of School Belonging——The Chain Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Relationship and Self-esteem
School belonging is an important concept in the field of school education as it has a significant impact on both students develop-ment and school development.The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between university students'campus sport partic-ipation on their sense of school belonging and the mediating effect of interpersonal relationship and self-esteem in their influential relation-ships.A questionnaire was used to survey 928 college students and analyze the data.The results showed that the two main types of campus sport participation(participating in campus physical exercise and watching intercollegiate sport events,could directly and positively influence university students'sense of school belonging,and also indirectly through the mediating effect of interpersonal relationship and self-es-teem.There are three mediating pathways,the mediating pathway through interpersonal relationship and self-esteem and the chain media-ting pathway through interpersonal relationship and self-esteem,respectively.The study reveals the intrinsic role mechanism of campus sport participation in influencing university students'sense of school belonging,which provides theoretical and practical implications for bet-ter utilizing the role of campus sport in school education.
