Reproduction Research on Shibata Zeshin'surushi-e lacquer painting"Decorated Cowrie Shells"
Shibata Zeshin was active in two periods,namely the end of Edo period and early Meiji period(1877-1886).And,he was renownded for both his maki-e works and his paintingsThis paper takes Shibata Zeshin's Meiji period urushi-e painting"Decorated Cowrie Shells"as a case study,exploring it from four aspects:current research status,aesthetic innovation,reproduction practiceand applications.It seeks appropriate approaches during the reproduction process to determine material selection and usage,providing fundamental research for the restoration of urushi-e lacquer paintings on paper and contemporary creations.
