Explanation of the Image-Making Behavior at the Pre-Visual-Cortex Level——Analysis and Reflection of Baxandall's"Fixation and Distraction"
In his elucidation of Georges Braque's painting Violin and Pitcher,Michael Baxandall's article"Fixation and Distraction"provides us with a remarkably biological interpretation of the image-making behavior implied by the form of that artwork.This paper,taking the recent researches as references,aims to give a deep analysis to Baxandall's explanation,as well as to test its reasonability from different aspects and re-examine the limitation of the demonstration as such,and furtherly,to correctly understand the feasible basis on which the study of microhistory of art could be carried out.
