The Cross-cultural Inspections on Image Autonomy from American Sinology
Image autonomy is an important background ofthe development of modern western art history researches and implies an ultimate aim to construct an autonomous system of image expression.Image autonomy receives some cross-cultural attempts and inspections in Chinese art researches of American sinology,via visual methods based on form analysis,and image narrative modes from the iconological perspective.These attempts and inspections finally denies the absolute autonomy of images and demonstrates the inseparability of image and ideology.
