A Comparative Study on the Application of Paper Clothing in the Song Dynasty of China and 19th-20th century in the West
Paper clothing was popular in the Song Dynasty in China,and also appeared in Western civilization across the ocean after nearly a thousand years later.The application of paper clothing by the two civilizations coincidentally showed the special materiality of paper materials.There were also commonalities in social characteristics of paper clothing and user class.However,there are differences in clothing forms,production methods,daily uses and symbols,and even two completely opposite design views.It is found that the general path of cultural reconstruction and modernization of traditional materials from the comparison of the application of Chinese and Western paper clothing.
