Collaboration,Differences,and Mutual Learning in the Compilation of Painting History at the End of the Yuan Dynasty—Case study of Talks in the Intervals of Ploughing:Narrative of Painting and Volume 1 of Precious Mirror of Painting
Talks in the Intervals of Ploughing and Precious Mirror of Painting are two important theoretical works on painting in the late Yuan Dynasty,and their author are Tao Zongyi and Xia Wenyan respectively.They two were good friends and often exchanged ideas when writing their books.Previous studies have focused on the two authors and their respective works,but have overlooked their interactions and the relationship between their two works.Taking the two books as the focus,this article focuses on the mutual influence among the writers in the compilation of the history of painting at the end of the Yuan Dynasty,as well as the differences in viewpoints and mutual learning issues in their works.
