In response to the content of The Oxford Handbook of Music in China and the Chinese Diaspora published by Oxford University Press,"Chinese music"cannot be confused with"Han music",and using"Han music"instead of"Chinese music"is even more incorrect.In order to change this current situation in global Chinese music research,the first step should be to correct the name of the term"Chinese music",and to correct the mistakes of previous scholars.While conducting in-depth research among the people,it is necessary to organize,plan,and systematically write a"Chinese Music Handbook"in English that includes an overview of 56 ethnic music genres,in order to accurately and comprehensively introduce the basic situation of Chinese music to foreign countries.
