Literature on the System of Documents and Regulations:A Rich Carrier of the Historical Evolution of Ancient Chinese Music——Thoughts on the Issues of Chinese Music Historiography(Part IX)
In ancient Chinese society,the ritual and music system in the laws and regulations was divided into two parts:"ritual"and"music".Ritual mainly divided people's identities and social norms,ultimately forming a hierarchical system;Music was a hierarchical system based on etiquette,using music to alleviate social conflicts.Due to the reverence of"ritual and music"by rulers throughout history,a large number of documents with musical information or related regulations and systems have been preserved in China's long history.The article discusses the"ritual and music"documents in the ritual documents of all dynasties that are related to the study of ancient Chinese music history,the music documents in the laws and regulations,and the ritual and music documents in works such as the Hui Yao Ti Dian Zhi and encyclopedias.These documents present a vast and complex historical material,playing a decisive role in exploring the true meaning of the emergence,extension,and decline of ancient music historical events.
