A Study on the Discovery of "Ling Lun Zuo Lu" Portrait Bricks in the Southern Dynasty Cemetery of Wangzhai,Xiangyang
During the third archaeological excavation of Wangzhai Cemetery in Xiangyang,Hubei Province from June to September 2023,a Southern Dynasty portrait brick with the scene of"one person playing the qin and one person listening to the sound"was discovered.Its content is suspected to be the ancient story of Boya and Ziqi's kindred spirit.Archaeologists named it"High Mountains and Flowing Water"and reported it in various media.Based on the physical examination of the unearthed brick portrait and the subtle analysis of the visual images,combined with the author's relevant research 20 years ago,the real theme of the painting should be the significant event of musical temperament of"Ling Lun Zuo Lu"that occurred during the Huang Di period 5000 years ago.The shocking appearance of this subject matter portrait brick completely dispelled the mythological fog that had been shrouded in the text of"Ling Lun Zuo Lu"for more than two thousand years,and undoubtedly solved the eternal mystery that Ling Lun's"listening to the sound of the phoenix to distinguish the twelve temperaments"was actually the"Yi Qin Ding Lu".Its empirical significance in the 5000 year civilization of Chinese music is significant.
