Jing-Chu and Qi-Lu Elements in the Records of Guide to Qin Music
The text of Guide to Qin Music cited by reference books in the Tang and the Song dynasties reveals the major features of the version of the monograph circulated at that time.Although corresponding records may not be true, they show that the monograph had a relatively strong relation with Jing-Chu and Qi-Lu regions, involving pieces of the two themes of"being underappreciated"and"filial piety."Moreover, the Qi-Lu elements are more evident, and they are interspersed within Jing-Chu cultural realities and are interrelated with the author's background, structure, and the text. This may provide rational evidence for Kong Yan's theory other than that of Cai Yong and Huan Tan,and at the same time provides a new possibility for understanding the accumulation and fluidity of the text of Guide to Qin Music in compilation and circulation.
