Studies on Polysaccharide from Hymenolyma nana Bunge and Its Antiviral Activity
To study the chemical composition and antiviral activity of the polysaccharide, the polysac-charide was extracted from plant Hymenolyma nana(H.nana)and prepared by hot water extraction and ethanol precipitation. Its composition was analyzed by UV,IR,and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone pre-column derivatization strategy. The activity of polysaccharide against tobacco mosaic virus(TMV)was mea-sured by half leaf blight method. The sugar and protein contents of the polysaccharide HNP90 obtained from H.nana were 63.6%and 2.98%respectively.The IR spectrum illustrated that HNP90 showed obvi-ous characteristic absorption bands of polysaccharides and mainly contained six kinds of monosaccharides. The anti-TMV experiment revealed that the protective, therapeutic, and passivation activities of HNP90 against TMV at the concentration of 500 mg/mL,which were close to those of the control drug ribavirin,so HNP90 had significant antiviral activity. The study investigated the preparation, chemical composition, and antiviral activity of the polysaccharide derived from the characteristic medicinal plant of Xinjiang,H.nana.The results provided a reference for the development and application of the polysaccharide in the me-dicinal plant H.nana of Xinjiang.
