"The Belt and Road Initiative"and the High-Quality Development of Cities Along the Domestic Route
Promoting the high-quality development of Chinese cities along the Belt and Road Initiative is the focus of academic attention at this stage.Based on the data of 281 cities in China from 2000 to 2021,this paper evaluates the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the high-quality development of Chinese cities by constructing a double-difference model,identifies the influence mechanism mediated by public concern,and further determines the spatial effect between the node cities along the route and the neighboring regions.The results show that the Belt and Road Initiative has significantly contributed to the level of high-quality development of cities along the route,but there is regional heterogeneity in this effect.In terms of the influence mechanism,public attention affects the allocation of production factors and enhances the level of high-quality development of cities along the route.From the perspective of spatial effect,the Belt and Road Initiative will prompt the cities along the route to siphon off resources from the neighboring regions,which will have a certain negative impact on the high-quality development level of the neighboring cities.This paper clarifies the mechanism and effect of the Belt and Road Initiative on the high-quality development of Chinese cities along the route,which is an important reference value for the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road and the realization of regional high-quality development.
