The Sources of Spatial Force for the High-quality Devel-opment of Chinese Urban Economy:Dual Externalities Perspective Based on Factor Supply and Market Demand
In the critical period of China's economic transformation and high-quality devel-opment,it is significant to transform spatial externalities advantages into economic high-quality development advantages by releasing the spatial dividend of our big country. This pa-per systematically discusses the effects and mechanisms of spatial agglomeration advantages on economic development quality based on factor supply and market demand. The results show that the spatial externalities of factor supply, such as the labor pool, intermediate in-put sharing, and technological spillover,as well as spatial externalities of the market de-mand generated by the expansion of market potential, all contribute to leading the high-quality development of the urban economy.Further study also finds that the spatial external-ities of domestic market demand have synergistic effects with the labor pool effect, the spa-tial sharing effect of manufacturing intermediate goods, and the spatial technology spillover effect in promoting high-quality urban economic development. The externalities of interna-tional market demand only have synergistic effects with the labor pool effect and spatial technology spillover effect.Heterogeneity analysis found that the labor pool effect, spatial sharing effect of manufacturing intermediate goods and intermediate services, and spatial technology spillover effect significantly improve economic development quality in large and medium-sized cities.Expanding market potential contributes significantly to economic de-velopment in large and small cities. The urban cluster policies further strengthened the full exploitation of the advantages of various types of spatial externalities.
