Digital Economy,Opportunity Inequality and Common Prosperity:Based on Intergenerational Job Mobility
Combining the digital economy index at the city level with the China Labor-Force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)data, this paper evaluates the positive role of the development of digital economy driven by the Internet and big data technology in intergenerational occupa-tional mobility.Theoretically, this paper argues that the development of the digital economy can empower intergenerational occupational mobility by breaking through spatial and tempo-ral restrictions and increasing employment opportunities.Empirically, the results support the theoretical hypothesis, indicating that the rapid development of the digital economy sig-nificantly promotes intergenerational occupational mobility, and this conclusion remains valid after a series of robustness tests.Further mechanism analysis reveals that three key pathways through which the digital economy promotes intergenerational occupational mobil-ity:reducing inequality of opportunity, facilitating information transmission, and enhanc-ing social capital. In addition, this paper also finds that the effects of the digital economy on intergenerational occupational mobility show significant differences in individual endow-ments,household migration backgrounds, and macroeconomic environment. This paper provides valuable academic references for policy-making under the background of common prosperity, and has important guiding significance for formulating policies that promote so-cialjustice and inclusive economic growth.
