The Disequilibrium Spatial-Temporal Characteristics and Convergence Mechanism of Carbon Emissions in China
Promoting green and low-carbon development for economy and society is the key to high-quality development. Therefore,it is of great importance and time value to probe into the spatial and temporal characteris-tics and convergence mechanism of carbon emissions in China in order to build a beautiful China of harmony be-tween humanity and nature.Based on China's energy consumption data from 2001 to 2019,this paper calculates carbon emissions, and investigates the regional gradient, source of regional difference, dynamic evolution of distri-bution and convergence mechanism of China's carbon emissions by comprehensively adopting GIS technology,dis-crete Dagum Gini coefficient, kernel density estimation and convergence model. The results show that China's car-bon emissions show an increasing trend, with a fast growth rate during the tenth Five-Year Plan period,a slower growth rate during the eleventh Five-Year Plan period,a sharp decline during the twelfth Five-Year Plan period, and a low growth rate during the thirteenth Five-Year Plan period. The spatial imbalance of carbon emissions in China is obvious, and the regional difference in China's eastern, middle and western regions is the main source of the overall difference. The carbon emissions in the western region are relatively concentrated, while in the central region are divergent. The growth trend of carbon emissions in the medium-level and low-level regions is moder-ate and convergent, while the growth rate of carbon emissions in the high-level regions is large and the diffusion trend is obvious. The effects of population density, urbanization level, industrial structure and opening-up degree on carbon emissions have spatial and temporal heterogeneity.
