Digital Economy Empowers the High-Quality Development of the Yellow River Basin Economy
The Yellow River Basin is an important agricultural production area and industrial base in China,and it is also one of the most important large-scale basin economic systems in the new development stage.The high-quality economic development of the Yellow River Basin can not only promote the development of various industries in the basin and the sustainable development of regional economy,but also improve the living standards of residents,which is of great significance to the overall economic development of China.In recent years,the digit-al economy has demonstrated enormous thrust for economic growth,indicating that the digital economy is capable of becoming the engine for high-quality economic development in the new era.Therefore,in order to explore the promoting effects of digital economy on the high-quality economic development of the Yellow River Basin,this paper first discusses the internal mechanism of digital economy empowering the high-quality economic develop-ment from the theoretical mechanism,and puts forward relevant assumptions.Then,by using the data of 62 cities in the Yellow River Basin from 2011 to 2019,it measures the high-quality economic development level from five dimensions,and uses five basic indicators to measure the development level of digital economy,thus examining the direct and indirect effects of digital economy on the high-quality economic development of the Yellow River Basin and its heterogeneity.It is found that digital economy can boost the high-quality economic development in Yellow River Basin both directly and by promoting the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure with the help of mediating effect.There are significant differences in the effect of digital economy on the high-quality economic development among the upper,middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin.
