Can Smart City Construction Enable Enterprise Digital Transformation?
This paper regards smart city construction as a quasi-natural experiment,utilizing data from A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020.It employs text analysis techniques to measure corporate digital transfor-mation indicators,establishes a Difference-in-Differences(DID)model,and investigates how smart city con-struction influences corporate digital transformation.The study finds that smart city construction contributes to pro-moting enterprise digital transformation.Heterogeneity tests reveal that the policy effect of smart city construction on enterprise digital transformation varies with respect to geographical location,company size,ownership structure,and corporate life cycle.Mechanism tests indicate that smart city construction advances enterprise digital transfor-mation mainly by bolstering talent aggregation and digital economy development.The research conclusions offer pos-itive policy insights for promoting smart city construction and high-quality enterprise development.
