Effect of different row spacing on production performance of Achnatherum sibiricum
In order to explore the optimal row spacing for forage and seed production of Achnatherum sibiricum,a single factor randomized block design was used to study the effects of different row spacing(20 cm,30 cm and 40 cm)on the yield, feeding quality and seed yield of Achnatherum sibiricum. The results showed that the number of tillers per plant in 30 cm row spacing was significantly higher than that in 20 cm(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between 30 cm and 40 cm row spacing. At flowering stage, the plant height of Achnatherum sibiricum at 30 cm row spacing was significantly higher than that of 20 cm and 40 cm row spacing(P<0.05).At heading stage, the plant height was significantly higher than that of 40 cm row spacing(P>0.05),but there was no significant difference compared to 20 cm row spacing. At heading stage, the fresh grass yield under 30 cm row spacing was significantly higher than that of 20 cm and 40 cm row spacing(P<0.05),which was 1.99 kg/m2.The hay yield at heading stage and fresh yield at booting stage under 30cm row spacing were significantly higher than those of 40 cm row spacing(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between 30 cm and 20 cm row spacing. The RFV of 30 cm and 20 cm row spacing was 85.64,which was significantly higher than that of 40 cm row spacing(P<0.05).The number of reproductive branches(157 plants/m2),potential seed yield(404.87 kg/hm2)and actual seed yield(111.74 kg/hm2)under 30 cm row spacing were significantly higher than those of 40 cm row spacing(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference compared to 20 cm row spacing.Based on the above results,it is suggested that the planting row spacing of Achnatherum sibiricum in Hohhot area is 30 cm.
