Modeling on Simulating the Potential Natural Vegetation of the Northeast China
Based on the characteristics of natural vegetation distribution in northeast China, using multivariate analysis and geographical information established to simulate geographical distribution of 16 climax vegetation types representing the potential natural vegetation (PNV) of the northeast China,on the basis of digital maps of 8 environmental variables including climate,topography and soil types. The model was interfaced to GIS and used to generate a PNV map of the northeast China. The similarity between the simulated PNV and the actual natural vegetation distribution was very good with the accuracy of 66.91% and Kappa value of 0.61. The model can be used to analyze the effect of climatic changes on natural vegetation.
