To study the abatement of particulate matters of six particle sizes(PM0.3,PM0.5,PM1.0,PM2.5,PM5.0 and PM10)in Hohhot city parks,nine plant community structures were selected in Chilechuan park,Saihan district,Hohhot city as the study areas,and the differences in the abatement by each structure in winter were investigated using the field test method.The results showed that:the concentrations of the particulate matter of six particle sizes in the nine plant community structures were high in the morning and afternoon and low at noon,with an S-shaped variation trend;there was a positive correlation among the six kinds of particle concentrations,and large-size particles and small-size particles concentrations have a strong correlation respectively,and the correlation between the concentration of small particle size and large particle size was relatively weak;temperature and humidity were negatively and positively correlated with the concentrations of PM0.3,PM0.5,PM1.0 and PM2.5 respectively(P<0.01),and were not correlated with the concentrations of PM5.0 and PM10;there was no correlation between wind speed and the concentration of various particle size particles.The mean abatement rates of the structures for different particle size particulate concentrations were significantly different(P<0.05),the coniferous mixed forest and arbor-shrub-grass structure has a strong ability to reduce PM0.3,PM0.5,PM1.0 and PM2.5 and each plot has a weaker ability to reduce PM5.0 and PM10.There were significant differences in the reduction of particulate matter in different spatial positions within the structure of each plant community(P<0.05),and the reduction ability of particulate matter is different due to different particle diameters.
