To tackle the problem of rabbit hair keratin resources waste, rabbit hair keratin sponges were prepared by the freeze-thawing-drying method, and their structure and morphology were characterized by infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The effects of keratin concentration, initial concentration of methylene blue and adsorption time on the adsorption performance of keratin sponge were investigated using methylene blue as the solution. The results showed that the structure of keratin sponge is stable and has a uniform pore structure;the adsorption rate of keratin sponge on methylene blue increases with the increase of concentration, and the adsorption equilibrium is reached in 15 min when the concentration is 8%,and the maximum adsorption rate is found at the concentration of methylene blue of 30 mg/L-1.The adsorption process of methylene blue by keratin sponges is consistent with a secondary kinetic adsorption model and is dominated by chemical adsorption.
