To improve the efficiency of the estimators using auxiliary variables,a new exponential ratio-type estimator and an improved regression estimator for estimating the population mean are proposed under simple random sampling.The first-order approximate expression of the mean square error of the estimators is derived.A comparison with some currently more efficient ratio estimators and regression estimators in terms of mean square error shows that under certain conditions,the new estimators outperform these estimators.This conclusion is further supported by numerical examples,indicating that the proposed improved estimators achieve higher precision than the existing estimators.
