Morphological influence on immobilization of heavy metal contaminated soils by Nano-Il-lite/Smectite Clay
Nano-Illite/smectite clay has been used to remediate soils contaminated by heavy metals. In this study we evaluated the immobilization of heavy metal in soils by Nano-Illite/smectite clay, based on the adsorption of heavy metals and leaching toxicity especially the formation in farmland soil Pb-Zn polution. The result suggested that Nano-Illite/smectite clay had a capacaity of adsorption on Pb,Cd in the simulated conditions. The adsorption of heavy metal was suitable for Langmuir isotherm adsorption model.Applications of Nano-Illite/smectite clay dramatically decreased the leachability of heavy metal, the reduction of Cd,Pb concentrations in ethylic acid extraction was34.04%,34.07%compared controlled in the mass ratio of 1%(Nano-Illite/smectite clay:Soil). The experiment of chemical stabilization remediation of heavy metals showed that compared with CK the percent reduction of Pb,Cd concentrations in MgC12 ex-traction was 23.74%,45.86%after196th day,and pH increased by 0.1,with increasing of other formaiton in the soil.It was suggested that the Nano-Illite/smectite clay could transform from instable to stable forms.
