Application of LiDAR in Forest Resources Background Investigation
The purpose of the forest resources inventory is to comprehensively understand the current status and dynamic changes of forest resources.This article employs a combination of high-resolution remote sensing,airborne LiDAR remote sensing,and limited ground surveys.It utilizes aerial digital orthophoto maps or high-resolution satellite remote sensing orthophoto maps(Digital Orthophoto Map,DOM)for subcompartment delineation and basic attribute(land class and tree species)identification.By using airborne LiDAR point cloud data and ground plot data,it estimates the survey factors for forest stands,thereby obtaining unified standard and scale subcompartment maps,site factors,management factors,and stand factors,etc.,forming high-quality survey outcomes and providing technical and methodological references for the inventory of forest resources.
