Exploration of Threatening Factors and Conservation Strategies for Trachypithecus crepusculus in the Surrounding Area of Shanzhou Forest Farm in Yunnan Province
This study employed semi-structured interviews, transect surveys, and infrared camera monitoring to investigate the population, individual numbers, activity range, and natural and social threatening factors of Trachypithecus crepusculus in the surrounding area of Shanzhou Forest Farm,Yunnan Province. The results indicated that the population of Trachypithecus crepusculus in the area surrounding the Shanzhou Forest Farm consists of 110 to 130 individuals, distributed in the low-altitude areas along the Luziyuan River and its tributaries in the old urban and rural areas around the Shanzhou Forest Farm. The main threatening factors within the activity range of Trachypithecus crepusculus include habitat islandization and fragmentation, natural disasters, illegal hunting, disposal of livestock carcasses and production and living garbage, discharge of breeding wastewater, grazing, logging, and collection under the forest canopy. In response to these issues, the article proposes the establishment of a joint management organization for the protection of Trachypithecus crepusculus, severe crackdown on illegal hunting, acceleration in the formulation of measures to mitigate natural and human disturbances, improvement of environmental protection infrastructure, and enhancement of patrol management and publicity as conservation strategies, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the protection and propagation of Trachypithecus crepusculus in this region.
