Research Progress on Long Non-coding RNAs in Plants under Abiotic and Biotic Stress
Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)are RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that can not code protein or have very low coding potential. With the advancement of sequencing technologies,an increasing number of lncRNAs have been discovered and validated in plants.Recent research indicates that lncRNAs are critical regulatory elements in plants. They extensively involved in various biological processes including seed germination, seedling development, vegetative growth, reproductive development, and responses to all kinds of stresses. In this review we summarize the biogenesis, classification, and functional mechanisms of lncRNAs in plants,The research progess on lncRNAs under abiotic and biotic stress responses were discussed. It will provide a reference for further studies on the role of plant lncRNAs in abiotic and biotic stress resistance in the future.
