Excavation Report on the Nianhaoliang Site in Narisong Town,Zhungeer Banner,Ordos City in 2022
From April to June,2022,the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,in collaboration with the Ordos Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the Zhungeer Banner Public Cultural Service Center, conducted archaeological excavations on the Nianhaoliang Site in Zhungeer Banner. In Nianhaoliang Site, three ash pits and one single kiln site were cleared, and building components such as tiles, flat tiles, tubular tiles, glazed ceramic roof ridge beasts,as well as relics such as residual porcelain bowls and jars were unearthed.Based on the structure of the kiln site and the unearthed relics,it is inferred that the site was a glass kiln factory built by officials and burned by civilians during the Ming Dynasty. The excavation of this site is an important supplement to the historical data of the Ming Dynasty in the Zhungeer Banner area of Ordos, and has important value for studying the archaeological culture, building material shapes, kiln site structures, ceramic firing techniques, and structure of the handicraft industry chain of Ming Dynasty in Ordos and even central and southern Inner Mongolia.
