A Study on the Unearthed Human Bones from the Tomb of Gao Shizhong of the Northern Song Dynasty in Shenmu City,Shaanxi Province
Shenmu City is located on the border of Shaanxi,Shanxi,and Inner Mongolia,known as a fortress.Its unique geographical location determines that the region is a crucial place for people to mingle and blend.The M7 Xiaomiao in Shenmu City is a tomb of two people buried together during the Northern Song Dynasty,and the burial method is the coexistence of earth burial and cremation.A stone tablet was unearthed from the tomb,indicating that the tomb owner was a patriotic general named Gao Shizhong from the Northern Song Dynasty.This paper measured the craniofacial morphology of female buried individuals in the tomb,and the results showed that the skull was dominated by East Asian type factors,and also included some North Asian type factors.In addition,morphological observations were conducted on cremated individuals belonging to the skeleton of Gao Shizhong.Through the investigation of M7 human bones,combined with the information contained in the inscriptions on the stone tablets,it reflects the historical process of the communication and integration of the Han people and the Dangxiang people in the border areas of the Northern Song Dynasty,and jointly creating a pluralistic and integrated Chinese nation and civilization.
