Excavation Report of Han Tomb M2 in Zhengcun,Xiaodian District,Taiyuan City,Shanxi Province
From July to November 2022,in order to cooperate with the construction project of the new campus of Shanxi Second People's Hospital,Taiyuan Cultural Relics Protection and Research Institute conducted a salvage archaeological excavation of the Zhengcun Cemetery in Xiaodian District,Taiyuan City,a total of 23 tombs from various periods were cleared.Among them,M2 is the only brick chamber tomb.M2 is a double brick chamber tomb with a tomb passage in front and behind the earthen mound vertical cave.The top of the tomb has been destroyed,but the tomb shape is relatively well preserved.The accompanying burial objects include pottery jars,pots,bowls,stoves,wells,copper cutting,copper coins,frontlet,and ear spool.It is preliminarily estimated that the age is from Wang Mang period to the early Eastern Han Dynasty.The excavation and cleaning of M2 has certain reference value for studying the burial customs and systems in Taiyuan area.
